The final three Haldanes stores have been closed, a week after the embattled chain slipped into administration.

Stores in Tattershall, Wigton and Crieff were closed today, meaning all 26 outlets previously trading under the Haldanes Stores banner have now shut.

“This is an incredibly difficult time for retailers and particularly bad week for the high street,” said administrator Brendan Guilfoyle of the P&A Partnership.

“Our priority is to help those made redundant. We have set up a website and provided information packs to former Haldanes staff. These resources give them guidance and advice on entitlements, including how to make claims to the Redundancy Payments Office.

"We are also working with the unions to keep them updated on what support is available.”

Haldanes Stores Ltd and Ruston Retail Ltd were placed in administration on 22 June. The Ugo discount chain is unaffected, while a single convenience store trading as Haldanes Express also continues to trade.
