Ocado is to begin delivering in the West Country and southern Wales from tomorrow.
The online retailer will service the new markets using from its Bristol distribution hub, plans for which were first announced in October. Ocado said the launch would enable it reach one million extra households.
“The Ocado team has been planning this launch for a while now and has enjoyed getting to know the roads and region,” said Bristol operations manager Steve Frampton.
“It’s great to finally be opening the doors to the West Country and south Wales. We’re really excited about making our first deliveries here and getting to know a brand new customer base.”
Founder Jason Gissing added: “This distribution spoke will enable us to bring our innovative, time-saving supermarket experience to one million new front doors in Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and the surrounding areas.
“It’s not only fantastic for customers but for the local job market too, and the ongoing growth of our business.”
The news comes with Waitrose poised to begin deliveries inside the M25 for the first time.
