Aldi is recalling 750ml SKUs of its Brasserie Gluten Free Organic Pale Ale after the beer was found to contain deglutenised barley - making it a health risk to allergic consumers.

Customers who bought the beer should return it to their nearest store to receive a full refund, a spokesman for the discounter said.

The Food Standards Agency said it had advised Aldi to contact relevant allergy support organisations, which would publicise the recall to their members, and to issue a point-of-sale notice to customers.

No other Aldi or Brasserie brand products were known to be affected, it said.
