The brand’s coffee tequila has rolled into Sainsbury’s this month

Cazcabel has secured a Sainsbury’s listing for its coffee tequila and reported a 348% sales increase - filling the gap in the market left by Bacardí discontinuing Patrón XO Cafe, it claims.

It said its own take on the liqueur, which rolled into Sainsbury’s this month, was “fast becoming the nation’s new favourite coffee tequila” (rsp: £24/700ml).

The brand claimed it had seen a 348% uplift in year-on-year sales across all channels and all flavour expressions.

Cazcabel marketing manager Lucy Cottrell said it filled “a really important gap in the market, a brand with a strong story and packaging but also premium quality tequila that is still accessible both in flavour profile and price”.

The Sainsbury’s listing provided “a significant opportunity to grow both the tequila and liqueurs category in the UK”, Cottrell added.

Sainsbury’s spirits buyer Abby Tasker said the listing demonstrated the retailer’s “confidence in Cazcabel, not only to fulfil an existing flavour demand but to excite and entice new shoppers to the tequila fixture”.

It comes after Bacardí’s decision to cease production of Patrón XO Cafe across the globe sparked fury from fans of the drink last October.
