French wine brand Listel has introduced two variants of its sparkling fruit wine to the UK, redeveloped for the domestic market.
The low-alcohol (3.5% abv) Listel Sparkling Apple and Listel Sparkling Raspberry (rsp: £4), which are longstanding products on the other side of the Channel, are available through Sainsbury’s from today (8 June).
Their launch - which follows similar offerings from Gallo Family Vineyards and Echo Falls - marks “an exciting time for wine-based fruit-flavoured drinks, whose popularity show no sign of abating,” according to Nick Hyde, CEO of Vranken Pommery UK, part owner of Listel.
“They help draw a new consumer into the wine category, and Listel offers the consumer a high-quality product at a lower alcohol level. Listel has been producing this for over a decade for the French market, so this is a natural extension for us.”
