Makro has relaunched own-label Champagne Veuve Pelletier for the Christmas party season.
The wholesaler claimed that, at £12.49 for a 75cl bottle or £69.49 for six, Veuve Pelletier was almost half the price of brands such as Moët and Veuve Clicquot.
The two varieties – Veuve Pelletier Brut and Veuve Pelletier Demi Sec – were selected as part of a sourcing strategy with parent company Metro Group.
They are made from a blend of three grapes – Chardonnay (10%), Pinot Noir (62%) and Pinot Meunier (28%).
