Following on from its heartwarming werewolf family ad of 2016, Asda is once again the UK mult that makes the most effort for Halloween.

This year it’s forsaken story for dance extravaganza. We see a little girl applying witch make-up at home when her house is struck by lightning, prompting her radio to (a) glow and (b) play Word Up by Cameo. The girl and her pals are soon possessed by a spooky spirit, with her family and party guests joining an impressive Thriller-esque routine.

The dancing is good, the song is a stone-cold classic, and what looks like an impressive range of dress-up clothes (and, briefly, some party food) gets a good airing. There’s a clever colour tie-in with the special effects and the Asda logo, too.
