Somerdale International has secured a deal to export British cheeses to The Philippines for the first time.

The cheesemaker will work in partnership with Bacchus Epicerie, a Philippines-based supplier of food and wine to restaurants, hotels and specialist retailers.

Bacchus will stock a range of traditional cheeses including Barber’s 1833 Vintage Reserve Cheddar, Somerdale’s unique Il Truffelino Cheddar,which combines classic English Cheddar with black summer truffle, Classic English Cheddar with the complex and luxuriant flavour of Black Summer Truffle, and Blue Stilton. “Looking ahead, we see South East Asia as being an important emerging market for our products and we will continue to develop relationships with key distributors in the region,” said Di Jones, brand manager of Somerdale International.
