Heinz is to revamp its 500g Big Soup range with six new recipes.

From 1 August it will replace the six flavours with three Angus steak soups and new sausage & veg, roast chicken & veg and chicken & bacon recipes (rsp: £1.39). It is also reintroducing chicken & leek to its 400g Big Soup range (rsp: £1.09).

The revamp follows a 7.9% year-on-year decline in sales of Big Soups to £24.9m [SymphonyIRI 52w/e 9 June 2012].

The launch would reinvigorate the chunky soup category, said brand manager Ruth Carberry.

Heinz is also expanding its Pasta Pouches range with a Bolognese sauce with penne line (rsp: £1.39).
