Ask brewers to predict the next big things in beer and many will talk about fruit flavours. The coming year will see a “huge” number of fruit lagers roll into the market, predicts Jesse Wilson, founder & CEO of fruit lager brand Jubel

“It’s hard for me to be unbiased, but I believe there are a large number of consumers looking for the refreshment level of their lager to be dialled up,” he says. “A number of consumers will order a lager and lime, a lager top or a shandy in a pub. However, similarly refreshing options in the off-trade have been limited.”

Chris Mitchell, marketing manager at Vocation Brewery, points out that citrus, tropical and berry flavours continue to resonate with drinkers, offering appeal and accessibility while still delivering character.
