People have been chugging beer and cider for more than 5,000 years. Ancient Sumerians sucked their sludgy beer through straws to avoid mouthfuls of sediment. Before the Romans brought apples to Britain in 55 BC, the Celts made cider from crab apples.
Despite its age, beer and cider just won’t stand still – which is probably a good thing, unless you’re a fan of crab apples.
