Aldi’s own-brand household cleaning range has been certified as cruelty free by a leading animal protection organisation.

The discounter, which has met Cruelty Free International’s ‘rigorous no animal testing criteria’, will now feature the Leaping Bunny Logo - the only globally recognised certification for cosmetics, personal care, and household cleaning - across the own-label cleaning collection.

More than 600 companies have been awarded Leaping Bunny certification, including Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, The Co-op, Superdrug and Morrisons.

“Having high profile companies like Aldi becoming certified by Leaping Bunny shows growing public awareness about the animal suffering involved in cleaning products and a rapidly expanding consumer market for ethical products,” said Cruelty Free International chief executive Michelle Thew.

“We congratulate Aldi for demonstrating its commitment to eliminating animal testing and helping its customers make a cruelty-free decision when purchasing cleaning products.”

Aldi UK communications director Mary Dunn added: “By partnering with Cruelty Free International to have its globally recognised Leaping Bunny logo on our products, we’re making it even easier for our customers to make informed decisions about their shopping.”
