Dairy Crest has produced what it claims to be one of Britain's longest-matured Cheddars.

Matured for five years, Cathedral City Vintage 60 was developed by the brand's cheese grader Mark Pitts-Tucker. It will be unveiled at the Nantwich International Cheese Show at the end of the month.

Described as full bodied, rich and creamy, with a well-rounded flavour, the cheese would appeal to cheesemakers who preferred a more flavoursome Cheddar, according to Dairy Crest.

Listings beyond its Nantwich debut are yet to be confirmed.
