It’s 30 years since Jamiroquai released ‘Virtual Insanity’. And whatever your thoughts on the hat-mad Ferrari collector’s oeuvre, it’s a catchy tune, with an impressive video.

The latter – directed by Jonathan Glazer, who went on to make the ‘Surfer’ Guinness ad, and films including Under the Skin – was notable for its travelators, moving floors and furniture with a mind of its own.

So it’s not only a coup for Beefeater to recreate the vid with Jay Kay in situ, it’s quite the technical challenge. And one the ad meets impressively, with the camera pulling back through multiple sets, and all manner of seemingly impossible movements taking place.

Beefeater doesn’t overplay its hand, though it’s clever to ‘reveal’ a glass of G&T is what Kay is after with his ‘reach and slide’ dance move. The ‘Get More With 0.0’ reveal at the end suggests only minds unclouded by booze can pull off such an impressive feat.
