Three rashers of bacon, a slice of fried bread, two runny fried eggs, chopped tomatoes, two pork sausage patties and brown sauce between heavily buttered white bread.
It’s one of the latest creations of @corner_kitchen_rotherham, the Instagram account that posts reels of breakfast sandwiches so outrageous you’re likely to pack on the pounds just by watching.
Some creations border on criminal, quite frankly. One posted earlier this month included a Greggs Sausage, Bean & Cheese Melt, baked beans and a variety of fried meats. Another had in its middle a ham & cheese toastie topped with a beef burger.
While Corner Kitchen’s Insta has a creative bent, it’s mainly a marketing exercise – one that draws ravenous punters to the South Yorkshire caff from miles around. There are, however, plenty of other accounts that centre on bonkers butties just for the love of the game.
Take @itssandwichking, who this week combined fried Spam Hickory Smoke Flavoured, “fairground onions”, Worcestershire sauce, jalapeños, brown sauce, fried egg and grated cheese – all packed between two thick slices of fried bread.
More cerebral Insta users might prefer the reels of Barry Enderwick, who goes by @sandwichesofhistory. His most recent efforts to create sarnies from the past include an icky prawn & pineapple thing from 1951 and a 1903 monstrosity that featured hard-boiled egg, anchovies, shallots, English mustard and raw egg yolk.
You can almost feel the resulting heartburn.
