KFC’s weird ‘Believe in Chicken’ ads have been wildly successful in getting tongues wagging. And its latest effort is just as enigmatic as previous instalments.
The ad – a follow-up to others that suggest chicken is at the heart of a cult – has a Squid Game vibe: a large group find themselves in a warehouse, where they blindfold themselves. A starting gun is fired, and they start running, following their instincts through locations urban and rural. Several dangerous obstacles appear and eliminate all but one.
A more prosaic ad would have the winner rewarded with a yummy KFC meal, but the resolution here is a stranger one, evoking a famous fable.
A QR code provides viewers a portal to sign up to an ‘ultimate test of faith’, promising a big cash prize for those brave enough. Intriguing stuff!
