The bacon cancer scare is built on a number nobody is explaining

The sales decline may be real, but the scientific story behind it is not, says Mike Coppen-Gardner of WeAreSPQR
The recent Grocer report on an £18.7m fall in nitrite-cured bacon sales in 12 weeks was presented by the Coalition Against Nitrites as confirmation that the science has been settled and the public has passed its verdict. Neither claim is true.
