Yorkshire Tea has mastered the art of ad campaign celebrity guest star. The likes of Sarah Lancashire, Patrick Stewart and Sean Bean have all leant the brand their star power.
But it’s also impressed without celebs: a daft rap from ‘Skipton Alfie’ about taking YT bags on holiday was just as original and witty.
Now here’s a new celeb-free duo – addressing a question tea drinkers might have: when to drink Yorkshire Tea, and when to turn to the fancier Yorkshire Gold?
One ad sees a mum delighted when her daughter shares her pregnancy news… but much more so when beloved cat Norman comes back from the vet. “Some moments deserve Gold,” she concludes.
In the other, a man accidentally tells his colleagues he’s been to jazzercise classes. He expects derision, but instead finds comradeship.
The cat commercial is the better one. But if either ad gets shoppers to put the premium bags in their shopping baskets as well as (not just instead of) the standard ones, it’ll be a big win for the brand.
