Food redistribution charity His Church has celebrated a milestone of distributing 500,000 meals since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, in a partnership with Arsenal Football Club.

The charity has been working with the north London Club and Islington Council since the start of the pandemic to deliver food and essential items to families in need.

It also received a £50,000 donation from Wrap to provide full transport and logistic solutions for major manufacturers’ residual stock.

Arsenal have released a video to celebrate the milestone.

Richard Humphrey, who is the Operations Director at His Church said: “This achievement would not have been possible without Wrap’s sustained support and invaluable partnership.

“It’s wonderful to see the Mercedes Actros, which we received in the recent Covid-19 Emergency Surplus Grant, in such high-profile action.”

Meanwhile, food redistribution charity FareShare said it believed demand for food could triple this Christmas.

Research from the charity shows that more than three-quarters of the charities and community organisations they supply food to expect demand to remain at crisis levels or increase.

FareShare is being supported by the John Lewis and Waitrose Give a Little Love campaign, which aims to raise £5m for the charity, along with Home-Start UK and other local charities, to provide a lifeline to people in need.

Customer donations up to the value of £2m will be match funded by a donation from the John Lewis Partnership, ensuring that FareShare can continue getting food out to thousands of people in need across the UK.
