Asda is launching its first transactional mobile phone app, allowing customers to buy groceries online and price check the cost of their shopping using their iPhones.

Customers are now able to download the Asda App onto their iPhone to register to shop and amend an existing order or delivery slot up until 10pm the day before their delivery is due.

The app also has an integrated scanner enabling customers to add new products to their basket by scanning the barcode.

The move follows the launch of the retailer’s mobile-optimised site in August.

“More than 60% of customers who access the Asda.com mobile website do so using iPhones, so we’ve created an app that allows them to shop – and price check – on the move,” said Kate Cuthbertson, Asda’s head of mobile strategy.

“Our mobile strategy is moving at pace with more new developments planned into the New Year.”
