Brakes has named its new chief financial officer.

Philip Wieland joins from General Healthcare Group. An accountant trained at PwC, he also spent seven years at satellite broadcaster BSkyB.

Wieland fills the vacancy left by Matthew Fearn, who switched to brewer and pub operator Greene King.

“Brakes is a strong business, both in the UK and increasingly internationally,” said Wieland. “With support from Bain Capital, I am looking forward to helping the team realise its ambitions for the business in the years ahead.”

Brakes group boss chief executive Philip Jansen added: “Phil has an excellent career history and brings to Brakes a comprehensive and extensive set of skills.”
