UK regional food received unprecedented exposure in this year's British Food Fortnight.

More retailers than ever before took part from 23 September to 8 October, including 2,200 Budgens and Londis stores, plus 300 delis, independents and farm shops. Footfall in participating stores rose 25%, with sales of products offered for tastings soaring 50%.

Radio stations and regional and national press coverage boosted the event's profile.

Event organiser Alexia Robinson said: "Every year British Food Fortnight gets bigger and more successful. It gives retailers and caterers a commercial incentive to stock British food, making it more accessible to the public."
