Post offices may be in decline across the country but Costcutter plans to attract more of them to its stores. The company has recruited its first ever post office development manager to grow its post office network and ensure its 48 post offices are running as profitably as possible. All the post offices were making a profit and “doing relatively well”, said executive chairman Colin Graves.

“They need attention to protect them because if we can build sales the Post Office won’t take them away. My plan is to keep building our post office business. We are always looking to increase the number of post offices, as they provide a good service to the community.”

Fiona Tucker, the new development manager, has 20 years of experience working for the Post Office having started working behind the counter.
