A grocery store promising low food miles has proved such a hit that it is to triple in size and open two more outlets.

Crumbs opened in a garden centre in Washington, West Sussex, last year with a pledge to source most of its produce from suppliers within a 40-mile radius. All products are labelled with a food miles card citing how far the product has travelled.

The owners say the store has been so successful that it is being extended to 200 sq ft - and they plan to open two more in Sussex next year.
