Inter Link Foods has appointed Paul Griffiths, the former chief of United Co-op's food group, as group managing director.
Griffiths will take control of the management of Inter Link Foods' manufacturing and distribution businesses, freeing chief executive Alwin Thompson to focus on the strategic development of the group, acquisitions and the expansion of the branded and licensed sectors of the cake market. Griffiths said: "My experience, particularly in the convenience sector, should be very relevant, and I am looking forward to the challenge of working in a different part of the market."
As general manager of United Co-op's Food Group, Griffiths led a strategic repositioning of the business from large stores to focus on becoming a major c-store operator. Previously, he was trading director at Asda for frozen food and dairy and director of the £800m Provisions Business Unit. He has also been group sales & marketing director of Tulip International, and he is a former chairman of the Provision Trade Federation.
