Booths will be able to boast two 'firsts' when it opens its 26th store, in Hesketh Bank near Preston, next week. The store, which opens on Thursday, will feature the chain's first ice cream parlour and a new pizza concept.

The ice cream parlour will serve ice cream provided by Scoop! The north west supplier has a kiosk in Golden Square Shopping Centre in Warrington, and recently opened a second in Preston. The tie-up with Booths will be the first time it has worked with a supermarket.

"Scoop just seemed the perfect company to associate ourselves with," said Booths senior catering manager Neil Cooper. "All its ice cream is made in small batches using artisan methods, fresh milk and cream from local farms. We will be stocking four core flavours and four bespoke flavours which will change on a regular basis."

At the pizza bar, customers will be able to choose from a selection of ready-made pizzas and have their own pizza made up for them, added Cooper.

Booths is also rolling out its Café 1847 to the store, as well as a cheese counter and self-service juice bar, following success with the offers at its Garstang and Ripon stores, which opened last year.
