Andy Kirby, manager of Waitrose's mammoth Food + Home store in Sheffield, was our winning manager this time last year. Kirby has since left Sheffield and is currently on secondment at the chain's new Barbican store in London.
He said: "When I was asked if I wanted to head up the team at the Barbican, I jumped at the chance. My family are all based in the south, so it is great to be working so near to home again."
Kirby has been at the former Somerfield store for three months and says that he is loving every minute of it. "It's great to be back in the south and among all the hustle and bustle again. However, I do miss the Sheffield store; it was a fantastic place to work, and we had a wonderful team," he added.
