Nisa Heritage Sausages

The firm also reported it had sold £20,000 worth of Heritage Gourmet sausages in the first week of August

Sales of Nisa’s own-label chilled ready meals have increased by 21% in the year to the end of May.

The symbol group said its 27-strong Heritage range of British, Italian, Indian, and Oriental ready meals had been an area of significant growth for several years.

Macaroni Cheese and Beef Stew & Dumplings were “strong performers” over the period, the company said.

“We’ve been delighted that our Heritage ready meals continue to experience strong growth and continue to be a firm favourite amongst both our retailers and their customers,” said Heritage brand manager Tracey Redfearn.

“Consumers often need inspiration for their ‘meal for tonight’ and our wide variety of own label ready meals help our retailers to provide a strong range of easy meal solutions.

“Heritage is one of Nisa’s key USPs, suitable for both symbol retailers and those trading through Nisa’s independent and specialist business unit, and is regularly reviewed to ensure it provides consumers with a relevant and varied range that delivers quality and value.”

The firm also reported it had sold £20,000 worth of Heritage Gourmet sausages in the first week of August - its highest-ever sales for the period.

Nisa trading controller Andy Cowin said: “Our Gourmet sausages are made from only the highest quality British meat. Sales are continuing to grow and the multibuy deal drives value and also delivers great cash margins for retailers.”

The own-label range was extended ahead of the summer season to include six varieties.

“Sausages are about more than just barbecues,” said Redfearn. “They make an excellent choice for breakfast and our Heritage Gourmet range especially offers a fantastic choice for the weekend breakfast occasion.”
