galbani mozzarella

The new product will be available in a £120g six slice resealable pack in Waitrose (rsp: £2.15)

Lactalis UK & Ireland has added a sliced mozarella to its Galbani Continental cheese lineup.

The new product went on sale on 31 July in Waitrose in a 120g six-slice resealable pack (rsp: £2.15).

The Italian cheese brand said it hoped the new launch would respond to consumer trends towards using mozzarella in toasties and burgers, where sliced mozzarella was the most convenient format.

“We know that consumers continue to enjoy cooking from scratch at home post-pandemic,” said Héloïse Le Norcy-Trott, marketing director for Lactalis UK & Ireland. “We also know they are willing to upgrade to quality brands that can transport them to their favourite locations through authentic tastes and flavours.”

Galbani is the number one Italian cheese and mozzarella brand in the UK, with year to date sales of about £22m, according to Lactalis.

“We are delighted to be introducing sliced mozzarella to the Galbani range,” added Le Norcy-Trott. “The brand is already represented across all Italian cheese segments from mozzarella, burrata, dolcelatte, ricotta, mascarpone and hard Italian and is experiencing great growth year on year.”

In addition to the sliced mozzarella SKU, the brand has also widened the availability of the grated mozzarella it launched into Tesco last July with a new listing in Waitrose (rsp: £2.15/180g).
