French dairy co-operative Isigny Sainte-Mère has secured a listing in Waitrose for its unpasteurised butters - the first time the products will be sold in the UK.

Two variants of Isigny Beurre Cru - one unsalted, the other with sea salt crystals - will go into 50 stores on 23 July, with an rsp of between £1.65 and £1.80 for a 250g block. Two pasteurised butters - Beurre Isigny with and without salt - will go into Waitrose on the same date.

Isigny area export manager Camille Mancelle said unpasteurised butter was “very trendy” in France. He added the butter had been awarded a gold medal in the Concours General Agricole 2012 competition in Paris.
