Marks & Spencer is claiming a retail first with the launch of a runny Scotch egg this autumn.

According to M&S, this marks the first time a Scotch egg with a runny centre has been created outside of the foodservice industry.

M&S developer Matt Dawson developed the egg using the sous vide cooking technique.

The egg will go on sale under M&S’s Gastropub range on 3 October, priced at £3.49.
