Supermarket vegetable and ready meal supplier Fenmarc Prepared Foods went into administration this week with the loss of 60 jobs.

Fenmarc, which supplies own-label ready meals to Asda, cut its headcount to 130 at its site in Wrexham.

The company went into administration following a difficult trading period and rising commodity costs, said joint administrator Ian Brown of Deloitte. Directors had concluded that the business could not continue in its present form. The company would, however, continue to trade in the short term while a buyer is sought, he added.

An Asda spokesman said it did not anticipate any gaps.
