Producer: Golden Cross Cheese Company
What’s your story? “We met at university in 1976 studying biochemistry and human biology,” say Kevin and Alison Blunt. “Eight years later, we bought six acres and a caravan, and the story of our goat and sheep cheeses began! Flower Marie was developed by the late James Aldridge, artisan cheesemaker and wholesaler, who showed us how to make the cheese in the early 1990s.”
Why is your cheese a regional gem? “We make it by hand with meticulous attention to detail and using the milk of a single flock of sheep.”
The Grocer says: In cheeses, ‘delicate’ often means bland, but Flower Marie is a showstopper. Its texture is something that has to be tried to be believed - soft, light and wonderfully creamy. We also really like its square shape, which gives it great stand-out.
