Sausage and Mash

Waitrose stressed the incident had affected a “limited number of packs”

Waitrose has recalled packs of its Sweet and Succulent Pork Sausages with Caramelised Red Onion Confit due to incorrect date labelling.

Batches of the sausages with a use-by date of 4 July have been recalled, as they should have been labelled with a 4 June label. This meant the product may be unsafe to eat if consumed after the intended use-by date, the FSA warned.

Waitrose stressed the incident had affected a “limited number of packs”. “We’re taking this very seriously and are investigating with the supplier what happened in this instance,” said a spokeswoman.

An FSA spokesman said: “Waitrose made us aware of a labelling error with the product and we issued a food recall to notify consumers. We are working with Waitrose, the manufacturer and the local authorities to establish the reason why the issue occurred.”
