The startup will use the funds to move to contract manufacturing and scale up

London-based startup MyTea is Mighty is about to launch a funding campaign to expand to contract manufacturing and scale up operations.

The brand, which makes vegan tea lattes, is hoping to raise a minimum of £10,000 through the Bring It 2020 campaign backed by Natwest and Crowdfunder scheduled to go live on 2 March.

The fundraise will be equity-free with investors offered rewards including products and merchandise.

The firm’s ready-to-drink chilled tea lattes, available in Matcha, Earl Grey and Rooibos, are brewed with actual tea leaves, oat milk and Fairtrade ingredients.

“Being Taiwanese/American, I was inspired by Taiwanese bubble tea culture to create the brand,” founder Tina Chen told The Grocer.

“I then wanted to make the products healthier and more eco-friendly by using oat milk and agave which is lower in sugar.”

The lattes are currently available to purchase at Borough Market and Imperial College, where Chen did her master’s degree, with a launch on Deliveroo expected “soon”.

The cash raised will help MyTea move to contract manufacturing to extend the products shelf life from two weeks to one year without adding preservatives by switching to Tetra Pak.

“Minimum order for Tetra Pak and contract manufacturing is very high so we need funding to meet the 10,000 litres required for each flavour,” Chen added.
