Consumers should have strength left to pull the Christmas crackers this year, as Ocean Spray has ­introduced an easy-open lid to its cranberry sauces.

Following research that showed 40% of women aged 40-plus struggle to open glass jars, the brand has adopted the Orbit lids introduced on Duerr’s jams this year. Ocean Spray has also reformulated its sauces with 50% more fruit.

The range includes Wholeberry and Smooth cranberry sauces (rsp: £1.49/250g), and a Smooth cranberry & redcurrant jelly (rsp: £1.49 for 285g).
