Sir: As someone that buys grocery shopping each week and reuses their bags but does not drive, I feel I have been hit most by Sainsbury’s cutting Nectar rewards (‘Sainsbury’s to cut Nectar rewards by half’, thegrocer.co.uk, 14 October).

The ‘double up’ opportunities aren’t that great as they will just bring the value back to what it is at the moment - £1 will equal two points. As for the swipe and win, these are pointless as the odds of winning are probably similar to lottery odds.

I would personally prefer them to just tell us exactly the way it is rather than suggest we benefit in other ways - just say you are reducing the number of Nectar points given away to save money as they cannot go on giving free bag reuse points away and losing tens of thousands a year from this.
