A handful of sun-ripened tomatoes fall through the air in slow motion, condensation glistening on shiny skin. They spontaneously divide, and then explode flavoursomely in an impressively M&S-esque CG display.

A fulsome voiceover tells us how the toms are blended with a pinch of spice and “cooked together in our recipe”. The shot pulls back, revealing the ‘pan’ into which these ingredients have ruptured to be a can of Heinz tomato soup. A bemused child, face covered with it, seems concerned only with the taste - despite the ‘no additives’ messaging.

This ad lacks the originality and warmth of its steamed-up-specs predecessor, but it gets the job done. Shame the ‘made with great’ tagline is basically meaningless.
