M&S has made a real star signing with Ian Wright – an all-round good egg with sporting cred. Who better to front its Eat Well push?

Wrighty begins by reaffirming his love for football, taking us through some of its traditions… including pies on the terraces. Ah. “As a nation we’re putting on the pounds,” he tells us.

Arsène Wenger’s approach to diet is cited (“if you eat well, you play well”), but this isn’t about sporting excellence, rather balance. M&S has been in touch with the British Nutrition Foundation and as a result has come up with “over 1,800 snacks, meals and drinks that put balance at their heart” – easy to spot because every pack carries the Eat Well flower logo.

We’re even allowed the odd pie!
