Jones has taken up the role of head of brand at the Bermondsey-based brewing company

BrewDog head of marketing Dan Jones has left to join sustainable brewer Small Beer Co.

Jones joined BrewDog in 2018 as international markting activator, before being promoted to group brand manager in 2021. In December 2021 he was promoted again to head of marketing.

He has now taken up the role of head of brand at the Bermondsey-based Small Beer Co.

Small Beer Co co-founder Felix James said the business was “beyond excited to welcome Dan as the latest addition to our executive team here at the brewery”.

“Dan is a fantastic team player and has taken the initiative to really move the needle, even in his first few days in office.”

It comes after the brand smashed a £300k crowdfunding campaign earlier this year, pulling in more than double its target, resulting in a cash injection of almost £700k and valuing the startup at £16m.

The cash would be used to fund its expansion and grow supply capabilities, the brand said at the time, with co-founder James Grundy telling The Grocer shoppers were “starting to approach stocking up on Small Beer in much in the same way they would with other fridge staples”.

The brand now exports to numerous markets around the world, with sales in Iceland, Singapore, Hong Kong, Norway, Finland and South Korea.
