What was your first job? Retail assistant while at school.

What’s been your worst job interview? When I was backpacking in Zanzibar I applied for a job as a cleaner. The interview was to help clean a long-haul bus after a 24-hour journey. I saw things on that bus I can never forget.

What was the first music single you bought? Ronan Keating, Life is a Rollercoaster.

How do you describe your job to your mates? I help make great tasting healthy food with people I love, while deciding which fire to put out.

What is the most rewarding part of your job? Seeing consumers enjoy the products we develop.

What is the least rewarding part? Sinking so much time into paperwork and logistics issues since Brexit.

What is your motto in life? At least my oranges are growing.

If you could change one thing in grocery, what would it be? I think all trading teams/buyers should have an understanding of nutrition. The industry as a whole has a responsibility to offer healthy alternatives.

If you were allowed one dream perk, what would it be? My dream perk was to work remotely… we started it pre-Covid and it has transformed my work/life balance.

What was the most embarrassing moment in your life? It’s quite morbid – I was told an elderly friend of the family had passed away. I hand delivered flowers and a memorial card to the family home, only to find the lady opened the door when I knocked.

Do you have any phobias? I have an irrational fear of anybody else playing with my Excel spreadsheets.

What luxury would you have on a desert island? My barbell and weights.

What animal reflects your personality? My dog, Alvie. I’m not sure whether he is becoming more like me, or I’m becoming more like him. Last week he was tapping on my laptop while I was drinking out of a bowl. Very weird.

What’s your favourite film and why? Castaway, or any movie with Tom Hanks in. He’s the greatest actor of all time.

What would your death row meal be? Steak followed by Wheyhey dessert. I may be on death row but I’d still need to keep an eye on my sugar intake… it’s a killer.
