Bestway is expanding its Best-in own-label line-up with a range of fresh butchery products.

The 15-strong range, which will hit shelves from mid-February, would deliver an average retail margin of about 30%, said Bestway, and responded to increased shopper and retailer demand for fresh meat.

“More shoppers are looking for fresh meal solutions in convenience,” said Bestway chilled category controller Steve Carter. “Two out of every three baskets in convenience now contains chilled products.”

The beef, pork, lamb and chicken lines will be available in fixed-weight, colour-coded packs, with SKUs ranging from whole chickens to minced beef and pork chops. The range would offer a “competitive” price mark, said Bestway, with meat sourced from the UK “where commercially viable.”
