Cadbury is poised to see its fast-growing Caramilk chocolate move into ice cream with two SKUs.

Made by ice cream giant Froneri, the new duo comprises a 480ml tub and a four-pack of 90g lollies. Both land next month in Asda freezers, with a wider rollout to follow.

The handheld option offered a “velvety smooth centre, coated in a delicious golden blend of caramelised white chocolate made from real Cadbury Caramilk”, said Froneri. The tub, meanwhile, promises “creamy vanilla ice cream with a golden caramel chocolate centre”.

The NPD came with aim of “attracting more Cadbury ice cream fans, with a particular focus on the millennial audience”, the supplier added.

It follows the UK debut of Cadbury Caramilk in June 2021 in tablet and countline formats. The golden chocolate, which was previously available only in Australia, went on to generate £8.5m in its first 12 weeks [NielsenIQ 52 w/e 11 September 2021].

In February 2022, Cadbury added a Buttons option in 90g and 105g bags.

“Following the success of the confectionery range, we were able to see that customers desire to try new ice creams,” said Brunhilde van Antwerp, Froneri UK head of marketing for Cadbury ice cream. The success of the chocolate bars and bags proved Caramilk was a “taste already loved by many”.

The ice cream’s launch came with a full marketing campaign in the pipeline, which would feature digital, PR and social media activity, she added.
