Galaxy debuted in the free-from aisle in December 2019, becoming the first major milk chocolate brand to launch a fully vegan alternative

Galaxy is extending its vegan range with a duo of new chocolates.

They are: Galaxy Vegan Smooth Mint and Galaxy Vegan Crumble Cookie (rsp: £3). They roll into Asda from 21 September, joining the brand’s existing trio of chocs.

Galaxy debuted in the free-from aisle in December 2019, becoming the first major milk chocolate brand to launch a fully vegan alternative.

Its range is made with hazelnut paste and a rice milk alternative. The packaging warns they “may contain milk” but stresses this is only a precautionary warning as they are made in a factory that uses milk.

Mars Chocolate Drinks & Treats GM Michelle Frost said the confectionery giant was “delighted to extend our range to offer more consumers more choice”. The “bright eye-catching packaging creates real on-shelf standout to attract new consumers to the category” she added.

Like their predecessors, the new bars are packed in completely recyclable cardboard boxes. However, the wrap around the chocolates has changed from a biodegradable film to a recyclable foil.
