The cereals contain chicory root fibre, which is billed as a natural prebiotic

Kellogg’s has launched a new range of All-Bran Prebiotic cereal, as demand for grocery products focusing on gut health continues to rise.

All-Bran Prebiotic Oaty Clusters is available in two flavours – Original and Almond & Pumpkin Seeds – and includes natural prebiotic chicory root fibre and wheat bran fibre, which the cereal maker said fed good bacteria in the gut and nourished the gut microbiota.

“It’s clear that having a healthy gut can have a massive impact on our overall wellbeing,” said Catriona Campbell-Voegt, nutritionist and Kellogg’s wellbeing lead in the UK. “Seventy per cent of our immune cells are found in our gut, and it’s directly linked with our brain, so how we fuel it is so important.

“We’re excited to now offer two more delicious cereals which support good gut health to help everyone eat more fibre and feel at their best every day.”

The All-Bran Prebiotic range is part of Kellogg’s commitment to help families introduce more fibre into their diets.

Nine out of 10 people in the UK don’t get enough fibre and are short of the recommended 30g per day, according to a 2018 government report on the nation’s diet and nutrition.

Kellogg’s is doubling its investment in high-fibre brands this year and raising awareness of the benefits of high-fibre foods and good gut health.

The launch of prebiotic cereals follows Kellogg’s ‘Happy Guts’ campaign from February 2019, which saw All-Bran, Fruit ’n Fibre and Bran Flakes repositioned to help encourage awareness of the importance of a healthy gut.

All-Bran Prebiotic Oaty Clusters is available in all the major supermarkets (rsp: £2.99/380g).
