The launch marks the second move outside of cider for Kopparberg this year

Kopparberg is breaking into spirits for the first time with the launch of its own pink gin.

It has unveiled Kopparberg Premium Gin (37.5% abv), a double-distilled gin flavoured with strawberry and lime. It will roll first into the on-trade from 6 May, before launching into Morrisons and Asda close to the start of June.

Kopparberg will also launch an accompanying premixed RTD, mixing its new gin with lemonade (5% abv), which will also launch into Morrisons and Asda in 250ml cans and 4x250ml packs.

The gin itself was “a bold and balanced London Dry style of gin of the finest quality”, said Kopparberg, infused with “the same strawberry and lime flavour that made the brand famous and combines this flavour with juniper, lemon zest and coriander botanicals”.

It marks the second launch outside the cider category for Kopparberg so far this year – in January it launched boozy ‘spritz’ brand Balans.

Kopparberg had “made it our mission to use our drinks knowledge and flavour expertise to bring the spirit of Kopparberg to life”, said the brand’s head of marketing Rob Salvesen.

“Not many know that we brew and distill many other drinks in our brewery in Sweden and with over 10 years’ experience in distilling gin, as well as our success as flavour leaders here in the UK and around the world, it was an obvious decision for us to introduce Kopparberg Premium Gin in one of our most iconic flavours.

”This focus on flavour, combined with our premium fruit refreshment positioning, is what we feel will set us apart from other pink gins on the market.”

The gin’s launch will be marketed through Kopparberg’s £6m ‘Outside is Ours’ campaign, which features across TV, digital and out of home media.
