Lidl is debuting an interesting range of traditional Scottish consumer goods in the run up to Burns Night celebrations on 25 January.

The discounter will be promoting the event with a range that includes Ben Bracken Blended Malt Scotch Whisky aged 12 years for only £17.99, Highland game venison sausages at £1.99 for 300g and McKechnie Jess Finest Scottish Haggis for only 99p, across its 610 UK stores from 15 January.

Prices of Scottish products sold year-round will also be dropped, with Scottish Porridge Oats cut from 99p to 59p for 1kg and assorted shortbread rounds cut from 99p to 49p for 150g from 24-25 January. Lidl will also be selling Scottish favourite Barr Irn-Bru from 22-28 January

The new product range also sees the discounter launch traditional Scottish Highland wear across its stores for the first time ever, after a successful pilot in Scottish stores last year, when the range sold out within days of release.

Shoppers will be able to buy Men’s eight yard kilt for just £29.99 - available in two tartans, ghillie shirts for £11.99 and leather sporrans for £9.99.

In another Lidl first, the supermarket will be selling kid’s playable bagpipes this year, priced at £12.99.

“This fantastic range, at unbelievably low prices, will give everyone the chance to celebrate Burns Night in proper Scottish style, whilst showcasing Scotland’s proud heritage and traditions,” said Lidl non-food buying manager Josie Stone.

“Highland Wear can often be unaffordable to many, costing hundreds of pounds, so it’s great to be able to offer a real 8 Yard Kilt for under £30!”
