It is the first time the brand’s ready meals have been sold in a major supermarket

Loma Linda – the US brand behind plant-based tuna substitute Tuno – is to launch a full range of plant-based ambient ready meal pouches into Morrisons.

The range, which Loma Linda claims is the first of its kind to hit a UK supermarket, is comprised of Spicy Pad Thai, Thai Green Curry, Tikka Masala and Chipotle Bowl (rsp: £2.80/284g).

Microwaveable in two minutes, the meals are completely vegan, wheat and gluten-free, and contain up to 9.8g protein per pouch.

Prior to launch they were only sold in specialist retailers and Amazon.

The brand said it wanted to “disrupt the ambient convenience food category” with more “sustainable, convenient and affordable meat-free food options”.

“The ready meal range brings/offers innovation to the ambient category not only in terms of outstanding taste but also fits with consumer needs for quick, convenient and nutritious meal solutions in and out of home,” said Eric Woods, MD of Worldwide Food Associates, which is distributing and managing the brand in the UK.
