A limited run of 40 packs have been manufactured

McVitie’s has created a limited-edition white chocolate version of Jaffa Cakes.

Featuring the original orange centre and sponge layer, the NPD sees the traditional dark chocolate coating replaced with white chocolate for the first time.

However, only 40 packs have been manufactured. McVitie’s is offering consumers the opportunity to win one via a competition on its Instagram page.

The competition launched yesterday and will run until 2 May. To enter, shoppers must ‘like’ the competition post, and “tag the person they’d most like to share a pack of McVitie’s White Chocolate Jaffa Cakes” with.

Winners will be selected at random on 3 May.

McVitie’s brand manager Alice Jamieson said: “We couldn’t be more excited to launch this competition and offer 40 lucky Jaffanatics the chance to see their Jaffa dreams come true and be the first to try our limited-edition White Chocolate Jaffa Cakes.”

It comes after McVitie’s has spent recent months expanding its Jaffa Cakes range into new flavours and formats.

Last May, for instance, it launched Jaffa Jonuts – a Jaffa Cake-doughnut hybrid – to lure younger consumers to the brand.

In January, it brought back its Lemon & Lime flavoured version of the treats.
