Premium prepared risotto brand Morso is discussing listings with the mults and rolling out a foodservice pack.

The foodservice format will go out next month in the three variants in the brand’s core retail range - prawns & leeks, mushrooms, and pancetta & fennel.

The four-kilo ‘tamper-proof’ resealable foodservice tubs contain about 16 portions, and would allow a 60% to 70% ­margin, said founder Will Greig.

Greig is hoping to win supermarket listings for the 280g retail version, which made its debut in Selfridges in March (rsp: £5.99/tub). They would be positioned as a “welcome alternative” to a sandwich, soup or sushi, he added.
